I now have a list of movies I really need to see:
- True Grit
- The Kings Speech
- The Town
- 127 Hours
- The Kids Are Alright
- The Fighter
If I wasn't so poor and/or tired all the time, I'd make more of an effort to actually go see these movies, but alas, I simply cannot afford the lifestyle which I aspire to live in (i.e. Have expensive, nice clothing, see all the above movies and any others that come my way, feed my Diet Coke addiction, and buy me a new book to read every time I finish the last one, although, as I am blessed with a sister who works in Dubray Books, I get a family discount).
And back to the main subject of the post; The Oscars.
Absolutely furious that Jesse Eisenberg is up for Best Actor for The Social Network, I agree he's a good actor, and I quite liked him in the film, but to be nominated for an Oscar? Against Colin Firth, who I hear was outstanding in The King's Speech (Which my parents are out on a date seeing right now, bless them), and James Franco who had nothing to work with but his own acting skills, who I also hear did an amazing job at playing Aron Riastfon in the true story. I know he won't win it, and my prediction is that either Colin Firth or Jeff Bridges will get it, but if he did I would not be happy at all.
Absolutely thrilled that Natalie Portman is up for Best Actress for Black Swan, I saw it last week and thought it was amazing. It's been a while since I've seen a movie where after I really just thought, "Wow, that was absolutely fantastic". However if you can't concentrate on a movie, don't bother.
I'm generally pleased with the main nominations overall, despite the few things that bother me, but that happens every year with everyone.
It seems not everyone is happy though, Perez Hilton seems to be throwing a fit over the lack of nominations for "actors of colour". What I say to the article is that he doesn't know what he's talking about, and I think it's racist of him to point it out, saying that it's outrageous and all that, why should they get special treatment? I'm not a racist person in the slightest, I believe that everyone should be treated equally, the same old song and dance that every non-racist says to prove themselves, so why should it be a big deal when they get no nominations?
Other than that I haven't got much else to say today.
