Oscars 2011

As I love film, I was extremely excited to see the Oscar Nomination list for this year, though some results didn't make me happy at all.

I now have a list of movies I really need to see:

  • True Grit
  • The Kings Speech
  • The Town
  • 127 Hours
  • The Kids Are Alright
  • The Fighter
If I wasn't so poor and/or tired all the time, I'd make more of an effort to actually go see these movies, but alas, I simply cannot afford the lifestyle which I aspire to live in (i.e. Have expensive, nice clothing, see all the above movies and any others that come my way, feed my Diet Coke addiction, and buy me a new book to read every time I finish the last one, although, as I am blessed with a sister who works in Dubray Books, I get a family discount).
And back to the main subject of the post; The Oscars.
Absolutely furious that Jesse Eisenberg is up for Best Actor for The Social Network, I agree he's a good actor, and I quite liked him in the film, but to be nominated for an Oscar? Against Colin Firth, who I hear was outstanding in The King's Speech (Which my parents are out on a date seeing right now, bless them), and James Franco who had nothing to work with but his own acting skills, who I also hear did an amazing job at playing Aron Riastfon in the true story. I know he won't win it, and my prediction is that either Colin Firth or Jeff Bridges will get it, but if he did I would not be happy at all.
Absolutely thrilled that Natalie Portman is up for Best Actress for Black Swan, I saw it last week and thought it was amazing. It's been a while since I've seen a movie where after I really just thought, "Wow, that was absolutely fantastic". However if you can't concentrate on a movie, don't bother.
I'm generally pleased with the main nominations overall, despite the few things that bother me, but that happens every year with everyone.
It seems not everyone is happy though, Perez Hilton seems to be throwing a fit over the lack of nominations for "actors of colour". What I say to the article is that he doesn't know what he's talking about, and I think it's racist of him to point it out, saying that it's outrageous and all that, why should they get special treatment? I'm not a racist person in the slightest, I believe that everyone should be treated equally, the same old song and dance that every non-racist says to prove themselves, so why should it be a big deal when they get no nominations?
Other than that I haven't got much else to say today.

A Toast To 2010

Since this blog is pretty much new to 2011, I decided a tribute to 2010 is in order. It was possibly the best year of my life, and sure I'll share that will all my thousands of readers ;)

A Happy New Year to everyone, I hope this year's as great as the last one.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

So I just spend 30 minutes writing this and deleted it by accident. FML. The "Save Now" button is my new best friend.

So I'd like to take this opportunity to complain about LOOKBOOK. The site claims to be a fashion site, to show off your outfits, share them with others, get ideas for ways to dress and all that jazz. It seems as though the photography is the main priority with each look though. You take the same outfit, on the same person, but take one photo in your messy bedroom, and the other on the beach, in the snow, in a park, anywhere interesting, and I can guarantee the second will get many, many more likes. It really angers me.
I won't lie, I do hype the odd look, because the photography is beautiful, but if I don't like the clothes, why click that little black button? I really need a site like that for photography. Does anybody know of any? You know me, I'm a sucker for a beautiful photo.

On that note, I am absolutely in love with my new Lomography camera. It was a Christmas gift from Craig MacDonald, who I'm guessing will be mentioned numerous times throughout this blog, he's a pretty big part of my life. Bless his atheist soul. I've had an amazing time running around in the snow, snapping photos with my Diana + Mini. My sister borrowed my flash for three days for a trip to Killarney, I've been lost without it.

My musical auditions are over the next few days, and I am terrified. I really want a good part in this, but as it's Seussical The Musical, it's a sing through, and I'm not sure if I'm good enough for a singing role! I hope if goes well though, and I'm really excited to get working on it over the next few months.

It's ten past two, and I have a logn day of absolutely nothing planned for tomorrow, so I'd really better get to sleep.
Later.

Blog Blog Blog.

I've been reading countless blogs all day today, trying to think about what I could write about.
Also, my father found this earlier this evening. The internet scares me, I don't even use my full name here and he found me, it's ridiculous.
Anyway, I'd like to praise his wonderful blog, that might I add got nominated for an award, yaay for Daddy. If you'd like to give it a read, you can do so here.
I have a long night ahead of me, as I drink too much caffeine and this is how I busy my nights when I cannot sleep.

Vicki out.

Another year.
Another January.
Another February.
Another March.
Need I go on?
The point is, it doesn't really make a difference, does it?
Someday I'll blog properly, not like people read this anyway.
