A few of my favourite things.

Again, no specific order.

1. Green Fruit Gums: Even though I said no specific order, I think this still gets number one. A few of my friends know to give me the green ones out of every packet of Rowntrees Fruit Gums. If someone was to give me a bag of JUST green fruit gums, I think I'd have to marry them on the spot, even if it was Edward Carson (I hate his stinkin' guts)

2. Dick Van Dyck: Not only does he have the voice of an angel, dashing good looks, and the charisma of Jesus, but he just seems to be in so many good movies. If I lived in the time of his prime, I'd most definitely have been his stalker.

3. Hating Models: They're all shit people.

4. Tacky Things: Over the weekend I bought a pair of wedges, completely covered in silver glitter, and I'll never look back! I got them in Shoe Rack, one of those shops I wouldn't really think to go into, but my oh my there is most definitely some deals to be had!

5. Cherry Carmex: I think I can safely say that Cherry Carmex is my favourite smell in the world, trumps Mom's lasagne and freshly cut grass by a mile! I always keep a tub in my uniform pocket to cheer me up in school :)

6. 80s Music: Is there a better decade for music? If you say so I will challenge you on that statement!

TO BE CONTINUED
On Sunday, my lovely 5 month old kitten, Harley, was run over. My Dad found him in our next-door neighbours bushes all curled up, our guess is he's got hit and then ran to hide in there. After a few days of devastation, I'm feeling a bit better about the whole thing, and realise that it was bound to happen sooner or later - him being deaf and all. We're just happy that we took him in, sick and cold four months ago, and gave him a loving family and home for the time he had.
Dad buried him in the back garden, and we're gonna get some snowdrops to plant over his grave. We're looking into getting a new cat, just because it's so strange and lonely not having him in the house, hopefully the new cat will have at least half the personality that lovely Harley did.
R.I.P Harley, I'll miss you so much.

Junk Kouture 2012

This year, my art teacher encouraged myself and my friend Shauna to enter the Junk Kouture competition, a contest where you design and create an outfit, purely out of recycled materials. Unfortunately, Shauna decided in the end not to do it so I entered myself.
I decided to model my look around the song Candy Man by Sammy Davis Jr. When I think of that song I think red and white shirts and bow ties, and those old fashioned sweets that come in jars. I'm not quite finished yet, I've still to finish the head piece and the shoes, but I have the skirt, top and jacket done (see the photo below) and hopefully I manage to make it through the first round!
My friend Maria will be modelling for me.
The skirt is made of plastic bags tied on a string, the top is made of sweet wrappers and tin foil, and the jacket is all bubble wrap.
Shoes-wise, it was obviously impossible to make shoes, so I've covered a pair of heels in newspaper and have dicky bows on the front.
I've made bracelets and necklaces out of sweets, and a head piece out of wire and Styrofoam.
Once I have the completed look I'll post a picture!

Things I Find on the Internet

So a few weeks ago I set up a Stumble Upon account to pass time over the Christmas holidays, it now has taken over my life.
This particular Stumble almost made me cry, it's really cute and a lot of them are quite depressing.
I do enjoy more entertaining ones, such as this, it's a collection of photos by Irina Werning, copying pictures of people from the past, but years later. For example, theres a picture of a baby reading a playboy magazine, and the baby as an adult in the exact same pose. They're really brilliant photos.
It's also great for finding make up and hair tutorials, as well as recipes for amazing looking cakes and stuff. If you don't have an account already, you need one! It's free and only takes a second to set up.
Happy Stumbling.
